Flourishing Neighborhood Index

During February and March, Woodlawn United volunteers will be actively mapping parcels in our community for Woodlawn’s involvement in The Flourishing Neighborhood Index (FNI).

The FNI is a process of measuring community health across social, structural, and economic indicators. It honors community power by gathering neighborhood-based data to understand how our neighbors see our neighborhoods and what you want to improve. We will then utilize this data, Lupton Center consultants, and our community to create an implementation plan for change. PARCEL MAPPING

Explore parcel mapping with us! We're meticulously examining every piece of land to identify its features, such as residential properties, businesses, or industries, and recording the information. This initiative aims to provide you, your neighbors, and the community with a comprehensive understanding of the local landscape—what exists and what doesn't. By collaborating with you and fellow neighbors, we can collectively grasp the aspirations of the neighborhood and work together seamlessly.

COMMUNITY SURVEY

This spring we are surveying our neighbors. The FNI is both a set of tools and a process that will help Woodlawn United and our partners gather holistic data on 13 indicators measuring the neighborhood’s structural, social, and economic flourishing to hone in on growth areas and create a robust action plan for community transformation. Each participating household that completes the surveyed will receive a $50 gift card. And neighbors who perform the surveys, Community Connectors, are paid $15-20 per hour.

COLLABORATION

It’s a part of a bigger process to understand all the resources we have in our community and what support looks like. If you want to keep up with the progress, the results, and stay connected to future community conversations to add your voice, we would love to get your contact information to keep you posted.
